The Importance of Self-confidence

Confidence,in a

broad sense, comprises self-trust,self-esteem, courage and indomitability.This definition,though somewhat vague and unsubstantial, can be appreciated through experience because iff our lifetime, we are always seeking to achieve

something successful and are always longing.to attain a glorious goal, which can only be reached with the spirit of self confidence.

As is known, self-confidence is accompanied by will, and that as a twin, offers hope. Those who

do not have a strong will often think themselves unable to carry out any thorny tasks, while those who have do not find the tasks unsurmountably difficult. In fact, when our heart is void of

selfconfidence, every hope is gone, every thing on which we put our hands seems to be veiled in dark. For instance, according to experts, every year in the entrance examinations of all kinds, fully-prepared candidates lose nearly 5％ to 10％ of the full scores, and consequently meet their Waterloo simply because they underestimate their own abilities, on the one hand,and

overestimate possible difficulties on the

other. As a result, their fear to meet new challenge leads to helplessness in the

examination.

Self-confidence can be regained (if you have ever lost it) by building faith in

yourself.True,whatever you do, you will

encounter hardships. Put success Will come to you if you are courageous enough to strive for it. If you are not, failure might be your

life-companion.

The Importance of Education 教育的重要性 The prosperity of a nation depends on the development of education. Any development in science and technology throughout the world is due to the development of education which brings up scientists and inventors. It is difficult to emphasize just how important the role of

education is. There is no doubt that countries with undeveloped education will remain poor.

Education is also vital to the development of an individual. Of all elements of success in our careers none is more important than education. It is not genius but the knowledge that makes the difference between success and failure. In fact most of the famous people of our times spent many years studying. Can you name any great men you admire who are not well educated ? Some people, however, are still ignorant of the importance of education. Some parents, especially those in the countryside, think it unnecessary to send their children to school.

Some parents have their children work for money

at a very young age. In view of this, compulsory education must be enforced to see to it that every young people will be have the chance to receive adequate education.

Whether to pursue a PH.D. degree, which throw me a really seriously think about continuing my study after my Master‟s degree. Actually, I am confused with the question for a long time and changed determination several times for my different experiences in periods. Nulikely do I pursue a PH.D. degree makes my current.

A Doctor of Philosophy degree, abbreviated PH.D., is the highest academic degree. Because earning a Ph.D. requires extended study and intense intellectual effort, very few students earn the

degree. Society shows respect for a person who holds a Ph.D. by addressing them with the title „Doctor‟. To complete a Ph.D., each student must present results from their research to the faculty in a lengthy, formal document called a

dissertation (more popularly referred to as a thesis). The student must then submit their

dissertation to the faculty and defend their work an oral examination. In my school, it will take 4 to 6 years to accomplish a PH.D degree but not

everyone who engages in it would get the degree for one‟s research is just not very perfect. So it is hard and toilsome to pursue such a degree. I really doubt my ability sometime.

But it isn‟t my main reason for a negation above. I will work hard if I really want to get it. But what‟s my goal in my life, which always strike hard in my heart. How much do I like my field, and enjoy my work, what am I interested in ? If I pursue the PH.D. degree ,I must be sure that I really love my subject or it must be terrible to do it for so long time. Yes, at least now I am not very keen on my major. Probably because I engaged in it just for 3 monthes. It is hard to predict what will happen after one year.

Last but not least, I don‟t have a warm place to put my heart in. When I didn‟t part from my

previous boyfriend, I did want to pursue a PH.D. degree. Because I could reply on him in my

emotion and I didn‟t need to think over how to make the life. But now I have to make all the decisions in life on my own, nobady whom I can count on. So I don‟t have the smooth mood to pursue my PH.D. degree that also makes me depressed very much. It isn‟t easy to live in

Beijing for a girl single . As far as I‟m concerned, making my life stable and comfortable should go first.

More Students Pursue Master Degrees

It can be seen from the chart that there have been sharp increases in the number of students attending graduate entrance exams in a college in the past decades. As the chart shows, the year 1996 witnessed only 200 students taking part in the exams. In 2001, the number nearly doubled. In 2006, far more students prepared themselves for graduate studies.

A number of factors could account for the change in the chart, but the following are the most critical ones. First, thanks to the policy of reform and opening-up, the nation‟s economy has been developing at a considerably high speed in the past decades. Therefore, the people have more extra money for education. Secondly, other relevant state policies and the boom of higher education provide students with more

Although many problems have arisen in the process, we have every reason to believe that they can be solved in the near future with effective measures taken.
