Remembering names is an important social skill. Here are some ways to master it. Recite and repeat in conversation.

When you hear a person’s name, repeat it. Immediately say it to yourself several times without moving your lips. You could also repeat the name in a way that does not sound forced or artificial.

Ask the other person to recite and repeat.

You can let other people help you remember their names. After you’ve been introduced to someone, ask that person to spell the name mad pronounce it correctly for you. Most people will be pleased by the effort you’re making to learn their names.

Admit you don’t know.

Admitting that you can’t remember someone’s name can actually make people relaxed. Most of them will feel sympathy if you say. “I’m working to remember names better. Yours is right on the tip of my tongue. What is it again?”

Use associations.

Link each person yon meet with one thing you find interesting or unusual. For example, you could make a mental note: "Vicki Cheng -- tall, black hair. " To reinforce you’re your associations, write them on a small card as soon as possible.

Limit the number of new names you learn at one time.

When meeting a group of people, concentrate on remembering just two or three names. Free yourself from remembering every one. Few of the people in mass introductions expect you to remember their names. Another way is to limit yourself to learning just first names. Last names can come later.

Go early.

Consider going early to conferences, parties and classes. Sometimes just a few people show up on time. That's fewer names for you to remember. And as more people arrive, you can hear them being introduced to others—an automatic review for you.

67. How will most people feel when you try hard to remember their names?

A. They will be moved. B. They will be annoyed. C. They will be delighted. D. They will be discouraged. 68. If you can't remember someone's name, you may __

A. tell him the truth B. tell him a white lie C. ask him for pity D. ask others to help you 69. When you meet a group of people, it is better to remember __

A. all their names B. a couple of names first C. just their last names D. as many names as possible 70. What does the text mainly tell us?

A. Tips on an important social skill. B. Importance of attending parties. C. How to make use of associations. D. How to recite and repeat names. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分l0分)

Are you ready to find a new job? If so, now is the best time to get your job search started. Even though you are

just getting started, you should focus on the interview. This interview is your big chance to land a well-paying position. Be prepared.

One of the best job interview tips you'll ever hear is to be prepared for the interview. What should the preparation mean? For starters, it is important to dress nicely and professionally for your big day. Another good method of preparation is to do a few practice interviews at home in front of a mirror or with someone who can provide honest feedback.

Don't worry.

It is hard not to worry about a job interview. It is okay to be nervous, but don't let the nervousness defeat you. What if you do make a mistake? No big deal! Brush yourself off and move on. Get through the rest of the interview.

Some individuals make the mistake of thinking it is okay to lie during a job interview. Why is this done? Well, they think it will improve their job search success. Will it work? It only leads to the failure of it. Always remember that it is usually as easy as one phone call to your previous employer to check all the information you said. If you are truly qualified for the job, just be honest.

End with a "thank you"

Ending a job interview with a "thank you" seems like a common sense. This is because you feel very nervous and you want to leave as soon as possible and take one big breath. Still, speak out that important phrase and end the job interview with a firm handshake.

A. Be honest.

B. Don't complain about your old job.

C. However, it is easy to forget to say so.

D. Then, it is important that you arrive on time.

E. Otherwise, your nervousness is likely to lead to some mistakes.

F. For the best result, please keep these four job interview tips in mind.

G. What are some of the common mistakes that are made in a job search?

Mrs. Wilson,

I’m going out shopping, and won’t be back until about 5:00 pm. I have taken with me the two books you asked me to return to the City Library. At about 1 o’clock this afternoon, Tracy called, saving that she couldn’t meet you at Bolton Coffee tomorrow morning as she has something important to attend to. She felt very sorry about that, but said that you could set some other time for the meeting. She wanted you to call her back as soon as you are home. She has already told Susan about this change.

Mrs.
