印度教宗教节日和仪式

在印度,过了湿婆诞辰节(SHIVA),象神(甘尼许)诞辰节(GANESH CHATURTHI)马上就来了。今年的象神节是从本周日(8月23日)开始的,持续时间各地情况不同,有3天的、5天的,还有七天的、十天的。在这个节日里,印度信徒们或者去寺庙膜拜,或者请一尊象神在家里每天供奉。节日结束后,就会把象神像投到水里,让其消失在水里。然后节日宣告结束。

按照印度教神话,象神是湿婆和他妻子帕瓦蒂PARVATI的孩子。湿婆长期征战在外,帕瓦蒂一人在家。洗澡的时候,由于没有人守候,所以用檀香木浆捏出一个人形,赋予其生命。让后让其在门外守护,不许外人进来。湿婆回来的时候,也被阻拦在外,盛怒之下,用自己的三叉戟砍下其头颅。帕瓦蒂出来后,看到自己的孩子已死,大怒,并发誓要天、地、地下三界。各路神仙以及湿婆都知道这个女人暴怒的厉害,于是派出他们的手下去寻找一个孩子的头颅,越快越好。条件是这个孩子的母亲由于疏忽,没有看护好自己的孩子。这些手下到处寻找,首先看到的是一头小象,然后砍下其头颅,恢复了帕瓦蒂儿子的生命。湿婆将其叫作GANESHA,意思是手下之神(LORD OF GAGAS)。

现在,象神节已经没有了当初提拉克设想的政治意义,重新成为了普通印度人生活中的节日。当然,并不是所有印度人都过这个节日。我的房东家就不过。他们反对这种偶像崇拜。但是大部分印度教信徒依然对这个节日非常重视,买神像、供鲜花、向寺院布施成了在这个节日的基本活动。那些终日在主人家里劳作的仆役也可以在这天休息一下。

然而,所有的节日都是商人赚钱的好机会。随着塑料材料的使用,象神像更好塑造,而且样子更为光鲜,价格更为低廉。这就带来了塑料污染的新问题。这些塑像沉于水里,但难以融化。因此,从政府到社会开始鼓励人们重新使用泥土作为原料,用水彩来代替油彩。在城市里,政府也指定地点来沉没象神像。我所在的班加罗尔,今年就专门制订了19个湖泊、水塘。周五的时候,有关领导还特地去巡视了一下。

今年的象神节与以往有所不同,因为H1N1流感病毒正在印度传播。班加罗尔已经有好几个人死亡,感染人数还在增加。街上可以随时看到戴口罩的人。政府也提醒人们在庆祝活动的时候要注意安全,尽量不要到人多的地方。不知道和蔼可亲的GANESHA是否能给今年的印度人带来好运气。
