Test Definition and Procedure

Tensile StrengthThe maximum force required to break the test piece divided its original cross-sectional area. Elongation:
The change in gauge length of the test piece determined at the time of break, expressed as a percentage of its original gauge length.
The Measure force to do this is converted into a stress in kPa by dividing the force by the cross-sectional area of the specimen. During this test the elongation is measured by a strain extensometer.

测试步骤
The specimen is symmetrically clamped in the jaws of the testing machine, and the load applied by separating the jaws at 50mm/min . When necessary, the cut in the specimen is aided with a razor to keep it in the centre of the specimen. After at least a 50mm length is torn, the maximum load is recorded and the tear strength calculated in kN/m. The mean of 4 results is quoted. (ASTM D3574)
